Christmas Ornaments have become such a prominent part of the Christmas festivities that the holiday season would somehow seem incomplete without them. The tradition of using Christmas Ornaments began in the 16th Century in Lauscha in Germany. The story goes that a glass-blower called Hans Griener couldn't afford to buy the then-fashionable tree ornaments - apples, candies, nuts - to decorate his Christmas Tree with, so he made small fruit-shaped and
nut-shaped glass baubles. Life has become much more competitive since then, and the Christmas tree topping fairy has lots of competition now for the top spot, the Christmas-ornament-in-chief position. In Victorian times, Queen Victoria's husband, Prince Albert, a German, brought the tradition from Germany to his new home in England. Soon all of England was in on it.
